Mary Bartlett Bunge, PhD, a former WashU Medicine professor and neuroscience pioneer, died Feb. 17, 2024. She was 92.
Bunge was a professor of cell biology, neurosurgery and neurology at Washington University from 1970-1989. She finished her career at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She was a pioneer in understanding spinal cord injury, and in seeking strategies to repair that injury.
